"Only the Few Learn", Thespians' thirteenth film, concerns the misadventures of a rural, backward family and their relationships with neighbors and strangers. The story unfolds casually with the showing of home movies, but an unexpected vacation begins when the older son "borrows" some needed tires and gas from unexpected victims.

During the journey several strange characters enter the lives of the family members: a devious hitchhiker, an eccentric widow, a romantic car theif, two mischievous night prowlers, a trolly park caretaker, three scheming sunbathers, a destructive youth, and two frustrated spinsters. The film focuses on what the younger son learns from these experiences and how the other family members continue their foolish patterns of behavior.
